Vihn is the leader of Pontus and an otherworldly being in the guise of a powerful arcanic. She presents as a true Ancient to insightful beings, but this is not in fact her true nature, only an analog.

Claims to be arcanic by way of the hind queen. Royal Engineer of Pontus. In reality, Vihn Nem is the disguise of an Ancient, perhaps the hind queen herself. One of professor Tam Tam's lectures describes: "one of the Ancients, a changeling trickster who disguised herself to live among mortals and Arcanics." Tam Tam blames this Ancient for spreading the story of Zinn's romance with the Shaman-Empress and starting the cult of the Old Gods. That this trickster is probably Vihn Nem is also hinted when in chapter seventeen Zinn calls Vihn Nem "trickster" and Vihn Nem mentions that Zinn ought to remember how to repair the Shaman-Empresses' inventions even better than she does.

Ren reveals what he knows of the Blood Court to Vihn, who then travels to their lair. Disguised as a red-robed soldier, Vihn is reunited with Maika. As they explore the Doctor's lab, Vihn recognizes a model starship the Doctor had constructed, hinting at her true nature. She then escapes the Doctor with Maika, helping her rescue Gull before finding Kippa, Ren and Corvin in the forest outside.
It is outside that Kippa's true sight activates, allowing her to see Vihn for what she is - a being from another world, like the old gods and the dracul, while being neither.
Volume 5[]
Vihn stays behind in Pontus to continue studying the tomes and other relics she stole from the Lord Doctor's laboratories.
